Water and humidity: Probably the quickest way to kill a kolancho is too much water. Let them dry out between waterings.
Location: East-, west-, or south-facing windows are best. They are a succulent. 
Pinch back spent flowers to encourage reblooming. 
Take care to water less when in bloom
